A tornado warning had just been lifted and I saw an eerie green light coming through the windows. I decided to go out and check out the sky and was greeted with these Mammatus Cloud formations. I had never seen anything quite like it before and it was huge covering our house and all the sky I could see. It was a little on the scary side, but I found out the Mammatus Clouds are formed before or after a storm and are cellular patterns of pouches that form on the lower surface of cumulonimbus clouds. It is formed by sinking air-- most clouds are formed by rising air. They look burnt orange from the setting sun. Dramatic Mammatus Clouds.
