Description
We love to visit Michigan. This photo was taken at the Seney Wildlife Refuge in the Upper Peninsula. It has 95,212 acres and is located in Schoolcraft County where there are ponds and wetland areas as well as wooded areas to travel. This was at a pond and the pretty grasses accented the white and black Trumpeter Swans. They are so impressive with their white feathers and black legs and bills. Trumpeters are the largest native waterfowl in North America and can reach up to 30 pounds and have a wingspan of six feet. They were almost extinct by the early 1900's-- but with conservation and help, they have made a comeback in Ohio and Michigan where we see them. My favorite thing about them is their large honking sound which is so distinctive. Partners For Life.
